After six years of delivering high-performance electric driving, Tesla has unveiled the new Model 3 Performance. This performance trim is designed to leverage Tesla's latest innovations in manufacturing and engineering, offering a refined driving experience that combines exhilarating speed with everyday practicality. With significant upgrades in both power and handling, the Model 3 Performance is the most dynamic version of the car yet.
The 2024 Model 3 Performance benefits from a meticulously crafted chassis designed for maximum driving pleasure. Featuring advanced Noise, Vibration, and Harshness (NVH) improvements, the vehicle's ride quality is smoother, quieter, and more comfortable. This new iteration incorporates performance-enhancing components like adaptive dampers with hollow piston rods, ultra-high-strength steel springs, and a multi-sectioned stabilizer bar, all contributing to superior ride comfort and handling precision.
The new chassis is paired with the latest Performance 4DU drive unit, delivering up to 22% more continuous power, a 32% increase in peak power, and a 16% boost in peak torque compared to previous models. This power upgrade results in quicker acceleration and a more responsive driving experience, without sacrificing energy efficiency. In fact, the Model 3 Performance now boasts a 2% reduction in energy consumption.
The Model 3 Performance features forged 20-inch wheels paired with Tesla-specific Pirelli P ZERO 4 performance tires. This setup enhances performance by improving traction, reducing the need for traction control interventions, and providing a smoother ride. The tires also have a lower rolling resistance, improving the overall range of the vehicle.
With the powertrain's torque split being more rear-biased, the Model 3 Performance maximizes rear tire traction, ensuring better performance during corner exits. The result is a responsive and thrilling driving experience, especially in tight corners where power and grip are essential.
The Model 3 Performance comes equipped with high-performance track-ready brake pads, providing superior deceleration, enhanced thermal endurance, and the ability to handle intense driving conditions. Whether on the road or the track, the car's braking system ensures fast and reliable stopping power.
The adaptive damping system in the new Model 3 Performance is a groundbreaking addition. This system adjusts to road and driver inputs in real time, optimizing both comfort and handling. With Tesla's in-house software controlling the suspension, the car can be adapted via over-the-air (OTA) software updates, allowing for future improvements.
Three distinct driving modes are available:
Track Mode V3 takes performance to new heights by integrating motor controls, suspension settings, and vehicle dynamics into a unified system. This new mode provides a more predictable and responsive experience, with improvements in stability, handling balance, and regenerative braking. The Track Mode V3 user interface has also been redesigned to provide more data and control, right at the driver's fingertips.
The new Model 3 Performance features a series of design upgrades, including a redesigned front and rear fascia, a rear spoiler, a front splitter, and a rear diffuser. These elements not only enhance the car's visual appeal but also improve its aerodynamics. The streamlined design reduces drag by up to 5% and cuts lift by 36%, creating a more stable driving experience at higher speeds.
Inside, the Model 3 Performance has been equipped with new Sport seats offering enhanced lateral support, ideal for spirited driving while still ensuring everyday comfort. With 12-way power adjustments, heating, and ventilation, the seats provide a luxurious driving experience.
The cabin also features improved noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) management, providing a quieter and more refined atmosphere. The 360° Acoustic Glass, enhanced body baffles, and improved sealing all contribute to an overall quieter cabin.
