Los Angeles, Calif, 22-Nov-2024 - Kia's 2025 EV6 made its grand debut at the Los Angeles International Auto Show, showcasing significant updates to its design, battery capacity, and in-car technology. The refreshed model promises to continue its successful run in the electric vehicle (EV) market, further strengthening its place in the electric crossover and compact SUV segments.
Since its introduction nearly three years ago, the Kia EV6 has received industry accolades, including the 2023 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award. This new 2025 model builds upon its predecessors with enhanced styling, expanded battery options, and cutting-edge tech features, continuing Kia's commitment to electrification and innovation.
The 2025 Kia EV6 receives a refreshed exterior design that aligns with Kia's modern “Opposites United” philosophy. The new front end features Kia's signature Star Map Lighting, giving the headlights and DRLs a high-tech, wing-like appearance. The front bumper has been redesigned with sharper angles, and the hood's character lines are extended to enhance the vehicle's dynamic presence.
From the rear, the three-dimensional taillights follow the Star Map design language, while the rear bumper adopts a wing-type shape, visually connecting the front and rear. A more sharply angled side sill and new wheel designs (ranging from 19- to 21-inches) complete the sportier stance of the 2025 EV6.
Inside, the cabin benefits from a horizontal design theme, creating a spacious, driver-focused interior. A standard dual 12.3-inch curved display combines the instrument cluster and center screen for an immersive experience. New premium touches like a D-shaped steering wheel, updated center console, and Star Map lighting further elevate the tech-forward aesthetic of the EV6's cabin.
The 2025 Kia EV6 offers two battery options, responding to consumer demand for improved range. The standard 63.0 kWh battery delivers 167 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque with rear-wheel drive (RWD), while the available 84.0 kWh battery offers a targeted all-electric range of 319 miles in the Light LR, Wind, and GT-Line trims with RWD. This version is paired with a rear motor that produces 225 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque.
For those seeking more power, the all-wheel-drive (AWD) option features dual motors producing 320 hp and 446 lb-ft of torque, while the EV6 GT offers a performance-oriented 601 hp and 545 lb-ft of torque, which can surge to 641 hp with the new GT mode activated. The 2025 model also introduces a Virtual Gear Shift feature that simulates gear changes, offering a more immersive driving experience.
Fast charging remains one of the EV6's standout features, with its 800-volt DC fast-charging system providing a rapid charge. The charge port has been relocated to the rear left fender (excluding the GT model), and the vehicle is now compatible with the North American Charging Standard (NACS). Enhanced towing capacity is available in the 84.0 kWh model, with a rating of up to 2,700 lbs.
The 2025 Kia EV6 is packed with next-gen technology that enhances both convenience and connectivity. The updated Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC) provides faster processing and OTA updates, ensuring the vehicle remains up-to-date with the latest software. The new Kia Connect Store offers a range of digital features, including video streaming, music, gaming, and Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities.
Another innovative addition is the Digital Key 2.0, which allows users to unlock and start their EV6 using a compatible smart device or NFC-enabled card, without needing to physically hold their smartphone. The system also supports key sharing, making it easier to share access with others.
Additional convenience features include Remote Smart Parking Assist 2.0, Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist, and automatic deployment of flush door handles. These enhancements ensure a more convenient and user-friendly driving experience.
The 2025 Kia EV6 continues to be equipped with Kia's suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). Key features include the updated Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 with Junction Turning Vehicle and Junction Crossing Vehicle capabilities. Other safety technologies include Highway Driving Assist 2, which helps maintain a safe distance from other vehicles and supports lane-keeping and lane-change assistance.
These safety systems, along with improved steering response and reinforced frame for greater safety standards, contribute to the EV6's reputation as a technologically advanced and safe electric vehicle.
The 2025 Kia EV6 is expected to go on sale in the first half of 2025 and will be built at Kia's manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia. The refreshed EV6 will be available in multiple trims, including Light, Wind, GT-Line, and the high-performance GT model.
